Experts share airport parking savings you could make by booking well in advance

Some may not realise just how much airport parking can eat into holiday expenses if you leave booking until the last minute - or forget to book a space entirely.

And similarly, holidaymakers may not be aware of how much they could save by booking a parking space at an airport well in advance

With that in mind, the experts at Car Lease Special Offers have revealed the huge savings you could make by booking early, reports Wales Online.

The car leasing analysed savings you'd make at the UK's main travel hubs by booking in advance in a recent blog post and in some cases you'd save hundreds.

In Scotland's airports, if you booked in late-April for parking from July 21-24 instead of dropping your car off on the day you depart, you could make significant savings.

Airport 7 day parking cost pre-booked parking cost Savings
Edinburgh Airport £170 £39.99 £130.01
Aberdeen Airport £119 £65.99 £53.01
Glasgow Airport £110 £74.99 £35.01

Additionally, those simply looking to drop someone off can do so for free for 30 mins in the long-stay car park in Glasgow and Aberdeen Airport. Likewise you'll also receive half an hour to drop someone off in Edinburgh Airport's long-stay car park.

Car Lease Special Offers' Abby Nuttall wrote: "With many Brits set to get away this year, but also looking to save money, Car Lease Special Offers has analysed the price of parking at top UK airports.

"Factors such as the pricing of drop-off, short-stay, mid-stay, and long-stay parking were all analysed, while also looking at how much you can save by booking in advance."

This comes after a separate travel warning that revealed the common money mistakes that people make when they begin their holiday.

The 'number one' mistake travellers make happens whilst paying in a different currency. James Lynn, co-founder of Currensea, says many people may be unaware that paying in sterling when overseas could hammer their wallet.

He says: "The number one rule is you should always opt to pay in the local currency. This is an easy trick to avoid the poor rates and high costs you face when abroad."

Secondly, according to experts, it is best to avoid airport exchanges. Buying travel money at the airport may be convenient, but it can also be significantly more expensive.

You can find the full UK ranking table on the Car Lease Special Offers website.
