Experts Downplay Impact Of VP Debate On Presidential Race

Next week's highly anticipated vice presidential debate between Republican Ohio Sen. JD Vance and Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is expected to draw attention, although its impact on undecided voters in the presidential race between former President Trump and Vice President Harris may be limited, according to insiders.

While the debate is unlikely to sway undecided voters significantly, experts suggest that there could be some indirect effects that should not be entirely dismissed, especially in a closely contested election.

Christopher Devine, the author of 'Do Running Mates Matter?: The Influence of Vice Presidential Candidates in Presidential Elections,' noted that vice presidential debates typically receive less attention compared to presidential debates.
