Expert warns viral 'dragon blonde' trend could ‘destroy your hair’

Dragon blonde is the latest hair trend courtesy of the newly-released House of the Dragon, which shows numerous characters sporting that look. After beginning with Daenerys in Game of Thrones, the shade is a very white blonde which represents the perfect style to adopt more icy tones and help us stand out from the crowd.

However, one healthcare expert has warned against bleaching your hair at home to achieve the 'dragon blonde' look. Ghanima Abdullah, spokesperson for therighthairstyles.com, warns of the dangers of achieving this iconic hairstyle.

She said: "If you like House of the Dragon and you're thinking about bleaching your hair white, hang on. It's more complicated than it looks.

“That's the level 10 white blonde you're looking at. It requires at least three bleach treatments and can destroy your hair if you try it at home.

“That's because home bleach kits are typically stronger than what you get in a salon because they have to work for everyone, regardless of hair type, colour, or level of damage. So go for a salon consultation, and if they clear you for level 10, let the pros do it.

“Or bleach a human hair wig instead. After all, none of the actors in House of the Dragon wanted level 10 damage. Those are wigs that they're using in the series."

A new finding by the hairstyles website therighthairstyles.com revealed that interest in ‘dragon blonde’ on Google Search increased by 300% as a result of the Game of Thrones spin-off. Many celebrities have previously adopted the white blonde hair look, such as Rita Ora, Zac Efron and Lady Gaga, and it is predicted more will follow suit over the coming weeks as House of the Dragon fever continues to take hold.
