The Cincinnati Bengals had three players make the NFL top 100 list which is voted on by the players themselves. Trey Hendrickson came in at 75th, Ja’Marr Chase was ranked 39th and Joe Burrow was voted the sixth best player in the NFL.
Many people took issue with where Burrow and Chase both ranked, and Louis Riddick of ESPN is one person who had a big problem with where the Bengals QB was on the list.
“There’s no question that Joe Burrow should have been up there at number two or number three,” Riddick said on First Take. “I don’t quite understand where that disrespect would come for him, especially considering how he has performed under some very adverse circumstances. Especially early on in his career.”
Riddick took issue with the fact that Jalen Hurts was three spots ahead of Burrow, and especially disagreed with the fact that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was ranked fifth in the NFL, one spot ahead of Burrow.
Burrow has taken the Bengals to back-to-back AFC Championship games and is currently second favorite to win MVP this season behind only Patrick Mahomes.
“For Joe to be that low, that shocks me,” Riddick said. “I would assume, and I would hope that will motivate him this year once he gets back healthy, and after he gets that contract signed.”
