A lot of intrigue surrounds the upcoming contract extension for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Burrow, sans an extension, is back at practice with the Bengals and appears to be on track for Week 1 in the wake of his ankle injury.
Buy Bengals TicketsIt’s interesting to consider that Burrow is practicing again without that long-term security, a topic that has come up across the board as the regular season nears.
On the “You Pod to Win the Game” podcast, insider Charles Robinson chatted about this and his expectations for when an extension gets done.
“There’s probably an interesting dynamic right now between Burrow and his agent and the organization about being on the field for practice,” Robinson said. “I would be stunned if the Bengals didn’t do the right thing and make sure they have that extension done by the time he gets on the field in the regular season.”
It’s an easy agree — at some point, the business side will win out and indeed, it feels like the extension will still get done before the regular season.
Until then, the questions about the extension will only increase, especially now that hurdles such as extensions for other Bengals and Justin Herbert “resetting” the quarterback market have been cleared.
While it didn’t happen during training camp as fans might have expected, a mini-quiet stretch right now before Week 1 might be the anticipated Burrow extension territory.
