Expert solves 'mystery' after explaining why washing machines have a bump in the glass

It’s something you might have wondered about when you’re putting a load of washing in - now one expert has finally explained why washing machine doors have their distinctive design.

Anyone with a front-loading washing machine will have noticed that glass in the door is shaped into a bump that protrudes inside the drum. “That door glass is shaped so that the water will go into the drum, instead of all collecting in the gasket and just getting stuck there,” the expert revealed. Several of Renae’s followers thanked the TikTok star for teaching them something new.

One person commented: “I have always wondered about that! Thanks for unravelling a mystery for us!”

“A fun fact I didn’t know that I didn’t know,” another quipped.

“Interesting!” A third TikTok user remarked. “The more you know…”
