Expert shares top tips for scoring S Club 7 tickets with Manchester's AO Arena having one of 'best odds'

Everyone knows that there ain’t no party like an S Club party, and the news that the band are reuniting for a UK tour has appeared to have broken a very specific part of the internet.

Many of those looking to relieve their 90s/00s nostalgia will be looking to get their hands on tickets to their shows - which include a date in Manchester. Searches for S Club 7 tickets have reportedly surged by 1953 per cent since the announcement.

Some are already feeling the pressure to secure tickets, with one fan tweeting, “I can see today's frenzied rush for Beyoncé tickets being repeated again soon when the S Club 7 tour goes on sale” with another adding, “My klarna is gonna take another big hit this morning.”

Earlier this week the band announced a special tour to celebrate their 25th anniversary with fans able to see all of their favourites on stage including Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett.

S Club will be performing at the AO Arena in October as part of an exciting 11-date arena tour across the UK and Ireland with nights in Liverpool, Sheffield, Dublin and more.

Lisa Braithwaite, music expert at online ticketing platform Skiddle, has shared her top tips for purchasing in-demand tickets, which include extensive planning and ways to maximise your chances.

We’ve also included some of our own advice, picked up through years of ticket articles, live blogs and scrambling to get tickets to our favourite shows.

So, if you are hoping to get tickets to see S Club 7, here’s everything you need to know.

S Club 7 confirmed rumours of their tour live on BBC's The One Show (BBC One screengrab)

Early bird gets the worm

Look out for any pre-sale or early bird access opportunities for the show you’re interested in getting tickets for. Signing up for notifications ensures you don’t miss any sale opportunities. Skiddle’s ‘Remind Me’ feature allows you to sign up for notifications on events you are interested in before tickets have gone on general sale.

For S Club 7, those on the mobile network Three could access presale from Wednesday, February 15. Other fans will have to wait until general sale on Friday, February 17.

Be prepared

Set alarms or reminders up to 30 mins before the tickets are due to go on sale to allow time to join the virtual queue. Get your laptop, phone or whatever device you want to purchase the tickets on loaded up and ready to go. Ensure your device is connected to wifi to minimise the chances of anything going wrong.

The S Club 7 tickets will go live at 10am on Ticketmaster, so you’ll want to be set up and logged on by at least 9.30am to get started.

Maximise your chances

Load up a second device you could use to try and purchase the tickets on. If you have a friend that's available, see if they can also log on to try and bag the tickets on your behalf.

TikTok user @bigpinkenergy, who used this technique to buy ‘multiple’ Beyonce tickets for a number of shows added: “If you have a phone, a laptop, a work phone, a work laptop, your partner, your brother or sister, your mother or father’s laptop - their phones, take as many of them as you can. It doesn't matter if they have fast internet or you open loads of tabs, you want different devices to do this on.”

Smooth sailing

You may find that you have a time limit to complete the purchase once you have selected your tickets. Make sure that you are logged into a pre-created account, with your card details saved so that you can checkout quickly without having to search for your wallet and input card details.

This is something that you can do today (Thursday, February 16) in advance to make tomorrow's ticket scramble as stress-free as possible.

Don’t lose faith

If you don’t manage to secure tickets in the first release don’t be disheartened. Many artists will have multiple ticket sale releases and will often announce additional show dates due to the large demand.

Pro tip: sign up for the show waiting list if there is one to be notified of any additional ticket sale dates.

Other fans have suggested searching for tickets repeatedly, because they can often be released from people’s baskets if they do not check them out.

@bigpinkenergy added: “Keep searching until you get the tickets you want. When you go onto the page it will say there’s none left, there actually are, it's just that they’re in people's baskets and they haven't checked out yet.

“Not all of the people with tickets in their baskets are going to check those tickets out so that’s why you need to keep refreshing as more become available.”

She also recommended searching for one ticket at a time if you’re hoping to get general standing tickets. She added: “My final tip is if you’re going with a friend and you both want standing tickets, search for one ticket at a time, not two.”

Pick your venue wisely

Finally, it may be harder to get tickets for some shows depending on the venue you’re trying to book, too. Analysts have predicted the chances of getting concert tickets at different venues across the UK, so that Brits don’t miss out on seeing their favourite artists, with AO Arena apparently being one of the best venues to score concert tickets at.

By comparing data on venue capacity, area population, and the average number of concerts held per artist at each venue, analysts at KingCasinoBonus.uk reported that the AO Arena has a probability of 6.85 per cent for bagging gig tickets, just behind P&J Live in Aberdeen, where overall odds for getting tickets are 12.9/1.

Victoria Station and Manchester Arena (PA)

AO Arena has a capacity of 21,000, so each artist could be expected to receive around 37,800 audience members for an average of 1.8 shows, putting the odds at 13.6/1.

The AO is the UK’s largest indoor arena and is currently undergoing a £50 million transformation that aims to welcome more fans to the venue by 2024.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for KingCasinoBonus.uk said: “More and more artists are preparing to head out on tour across the UK in 2023, and with the level of disruption to live performances over the last few years, it’s no surprise that Brits are more eager than ever to get out there and experience the magic of a concert.

“However, with higher demand comes the increased likelihood of disappointment, and recent news stories revolving around artists such as Taylor Swift have proven how difficult and stressful it can be to procure tickets when thousands of other fans are hoping to do the same.

“Our research shows that frequent concertgoers in Manchester have a significant chance of scoring tickets for their favourite acts, with the UK’s largest indoor arena proving to be a reliable choice when booking tickets to your next gig.”

S Club 7 will perform at Manchester’s AO Arena on October 21. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday, February 17, and will be available here on Ticketmaster.
