Many of us use perfume and aftershave on a daily basis in order to smell nice and feel better, but one expert says we've all been storing the fragrances in the wrong places.

Many of us keep our perfumes and aftershaves on dressing tables or on bathroom shelves, but this can make scents change and dwindle over time, especially if they are positioned in direct sunlight. Instead, we should be keeping them in the fridge, or in a cool, dry, place such as a cupboard at the very least.
Experts say you could also be damaging the surfaces if any are known to leak or are easily knocked over.
If you want to make your scent last longer, applying a small amount of petroleum jelly to your skin before application will help to lock it in and last all day. You can also spray your hair, which could lock the smells in for longer than your skin.
That said, the alcohol in the fragrance can damage your hair, so it is better to spray your hairbrush and then run it through dry hair.
