Smelling good often makes us feel good too, acting as a little boost of confidence as you catch a whiff of your favourite scent as you go about your day.
TikTok influencers often encourage people to invest in huge fragrance collections with different scents for different days, which can be expensive - especially if you're having to reapply that perfume throughout the day as the smell fades.
Unfortunately, getting a scent to last isn't always simple as some perfumes fade faster than others thanks to body chemistry and the fragrance formula.
Fragrance expert, Natalie Ortiz, has shared her top tips for smelling good all day long with the help of products you probably already have.

Natalie, chief operations officer at The Fragrance Shop, said: "Rubbing a small amount of Vaseline on your pulse points before applying your fragrance is one way to add life to your fragrance for longer."
She explained: "Applying Vaseline or any kind of body balm, moisturiser or oil can help hold a fragrance for longer on your skin, acting like a fragrance primer. The stickiness of the solution can help your fragrance last throughout the day, especially in warm weather where your skin can produce excess oils, creating the opposite effect."
Keep clothing and fabric away from the Vaseline to give your scent chance to latch on to your skin, don't apply too much or you could end up a greasy mess but small patches will work.
By the same principle, Natalie recommends putting your perfume on as you step out of the shower as this moisture will help hold the fragrance just like the Vaseline.
"For situations where you can't have a shower before going from desk to dancefloor, use an unscented moisturiser on your skin before you apply perfume. This will help lock the fragrance in better, acting as a skin sandwiching barrier," she added.
If you really want to give your perfume some power, use the complementing moisturiser to layer the fragrance - or double up with the moisturiser version of your chosen perfume.
Natalie said: "The same way your clothes wardrobe layers pieces to work together, your fragrances have different notes that are not only complementary when paired together, such as citrus and musk scents, but it also helps with the longevity and wear on the skin by binding together."
She noted that some fragrances will naturally last longer than others, with perfume and cologne sold in different concentrations. For example pure Parfum is more concentrated than Eau De Toilette, so lasts longer but comes with a higher price tag.
"Lighter" base notes will also fade faster as the scent is "more volatile", which is bad news for anyone who likes a floral or citrus scent - switch to vanilla, musk or sandalwood for a naturally longer lasting smell.
Applying to pulse points like your neck, wrists and elbows helps release the scent all day long but Natalie warns not to rub your wrists together as this breaks down the chemicals and can cause the top notes to disappear faster.
"Either spray and leave to absorb into the skin, or gently dab onto your skin for further accuracy," advises the fragrance expert, "Perfume smells best and lasts longest when able to meld with the natural oils of your body."
