With the party season upon us, many will be eating and drinking a little more than usual.
And after a big Christmas night out, the go to "cure" is often a big fry up. Sausages, bacon, egg, potato scone all pilled up on the plate as we nurse last night's sore head. But the greasy meal may actually be doing more harm than good when it comes to a hangover.
According health expert Doctor Jatindar Thompson, the correlation between greasy foods and feeling better after a heavy night is a myth. And instead, the doc says you should opt for foods with high nutritional values instead.

Fresh fruit and vet and non-fried cards are much better to help you feel more like yourself after an evening of festive fun. Alcohol upsets your stomach lining, so nursing this will help nurse your hangover overall.
The GP at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital said: "A common myth persists that eating greasy food after drinking alcohol helps absorb the alcohol from your system, easing hangover symptoms. Unfortunately, this isn’t true; any alcohol you drank will already have entered your bloodstream.
"What’s more, high-fat foods take longer to digest than protein or carbohydrates, putting extra strain on your stomach when it may already be feeling delicate as alcohol can irritate your stomach lining.
"You should, therefore, avoid fatty foods after drinking alcohol. Also, as calories from alcohol does not have any nutritional value, it's important to give your body those nutrients it's been missing. Eat healthy, nutritious food i.e. fresh vegetables and fruits, and carbohydrates that are not heavily fried, such as toast, rice, pasta or porridge, and drink lots of water to rehydrate your body"
