Expansive business receives silver accreditation from North Lanarkshire Council’s Employer Charter

A Lanarkshire business has been recognised for "high standards of excellence" with silver accreditation from North Lanarkshire Council’s Employer Charter.

Chapelhall firm The Antibody Company was honoured for "making a positive commitment to the local economy".

The charter is based around four commitments by employers: to pay all staff the Real Living Wage; employ North Lanarkshire residents; use local businesses in the supply chain where possible; and ensure fair work practices which attract and retain employees.

Businesses which achieve two or more of these commitments receive a bronze, silver or gold accreditation, with membership of charter completely free.

North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy visited The Antibody Company, a fully integrated antibody engineering, production, purification and assay development specialist, to present them with the award.

He told Lanarkshire Live: “Congratulations to The Antibody Company on their achievement in operating responsible businesses that support their employees and make a positive commitment to North Lanarkshire and the local economy.

“Our Employer Charter offers clear benefits for both employers and employees and is designed to increase employment and training opportunities for residents and provide support to businesses.”

The Antibody Company has expertise in the production, downstream processing and conjugation of monoclonal antibodies for research, diagnostics and preclinical therapeutics.

Eric Wagner is the founder of the company, with more than 20 years in both academic and corporate environments working in establishing hybridoma cell lines and bulk monoclonal antibody production and 10 years in a CRO environment.

Since its inception in 2014, the company has expanded to employ five members of staff and become a trusted supplier of business-critical antibodies and proteins for firms re-evaluating the security and quality of their key reagents, particularly for UK and European based clients.

In addition, the company has developed its Virtual Lab, offering to offer turn-key services for small start-up companies to validate key technology and Intellectual property without diverting key resources to equipment and staff at the early stages.

Mr Wagner said: “The Antibody Company is extremely proud to become a member of North Lanarkshire Employment Charter.

"We are committed to the highest standards of employment for our staff, providing a supportive, nurturing and productive working environment.

"At The Antibody Company our priority is to provide excellent service to our clients. This can only be achieved by having the best staff in place.

"North Lanarkshire Employment Charter has helped The Antibody Company achieve this.”
