Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has opened up about her husband Derek's health struggles, revealing he has been been in hospital for two months. Early last week Kate, 55, confirmed her beloved husband Derek, 54, had returned to hospital as she appeared at the TRIC Awards on Wednesday – but has now said he's "been coming in-and-out" before then.
However, Kate has said that she is "crossing her fingers" that her husband will be out again soon. Derek has been struggling with his health ever since he was admitted to hospital with Covid-19 in March 2020 and was later put into an induced coma.
He managed to beat the deadly virus but, it left him with a series of health complications including clots in his lungs and holes in his heart. Derek stayed in hospital for more than a year and is the UK's longest-suffering patient of the virus, as seen in The Mirror.

In April 2021, Derek returned home but still needs constant care. Now, Kate has revealed she has been taking things "day by day", but admitted she felt "exhausted" with taking Derek back and fourth to hospital before his stay.
Kate, who recently opened up on finding new ways to love Derek, revealed to The Sun: "He’s been in hospital a couple of months now. He’s been coming in and out. Hopefully he’ll come out again. Hopefully tonight. I’m crossing my fingers.
"I’m really tired but I take it day by day to level out the ups and downs." GMB star Kate has two children with Derek; 16-year-old Darcy and Billy, 12. She also told of her sadness that Derek had missed seeing his daughter attend her prom, which was "emotional and strange" to see for Kate.

Kate has shown Derek photos of Darcey in her prom dress and he also was able to FaceTime her. But, she added how she has been trying to "embrace life" for the sake of her husband and children.
Kate, who recently begged for help after losing her husband's medication, added how her children's lives have "changed". It comes after Smooth Radio presenter Kate opened up about appreciating her garden as a place of solace amid Dereks ongoing health issues.
As she shared montage video of the blossoming flowers in her garden on her Instagram page in June, Kate wrote: "So Derek has been in and out of hospital a lot recently -hopefully the wonderful health teams will help him improve but I woke up early feeling exhausted and very fretful.
"As you know my garden is my #happyplace so came out for some #calm and to get stuck in to some weeding & planting. It’s been ages since have been able to & I really missed it but nature hasn’t me .
"The flowers are blooming, fruits growing , leaves dancing in the breeze. Am sure there’s a message in there somewhere for how life finds a way , and I certainly feel better for being in amongst it. Now to get my hands dirty & get stuck in! #happysundayeveryone and hope you find some joy !"
