The Bigg Boss 16 finale aired last night, and rapper MC Stan emerged as the winner. He defeated Shiv Thakare, a mandali member, to lift the trophy. Shalin Bhanot, who was the first contestant among the top five finalists (Stan, Shiv Thakare, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, and Archana Gautam) to get evicted, spoke about Stan’s win on the show. Soon after getting evicted from the Bigg Boss 16 house, he said, “As they say, may the best person win, and he is the best person. I am happy for him just as I am happy for myself.”
The actor was taken by surprise when host Salman Khan announced that he was the first among the top five finalists to get evicted. When asked about it, he said, “While talking to myself -- the loner Shalin inside the BB house that I became (laughs!) -- I had said it even when Nimrit (Kaur Ahluwalia) wasn’t eliminated from the show that I wanted to win but I wondered whom I was competing with? A person who has done a successful show like Choti Sarrdaarni (a show in which Nimrit played the protagonist), someone who has been part of Udaariyaan (Priyanka Chahar Choudhary played the lead in it), MC Stan who has had a concert inside the house and has seven million followers, or Archana Gautam who has nine million followers on Facebook, as she claims. Of course, a lot of love has been given to me over all these years. But come to think of it, what I have got today, love, care aur pyaar, jitna bhi mila hai mujhe aur ek... aur ek baar jo main bacha hoon (from getting eliminated), it’s only because of this show.”
Shalin may not have lifted the Bigg Boss 16 trophy and was the first of the top five contestants to get eliminated in the finale episode of the reality show, but one can’t imagine the 16th season without him. His antics, ever-changing equations with contestants like Priyanka Chahar Choudhary and Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, bond with Sumbul Touqeer Khan, and becoming more than just friends with Tina Datta, have been the most-talked-about topics of this season.
