Exclusive: I wish we had met that day, I could’ve helped Tunisha: Shivin Narang, who was supposed to shoot for a music video with her on the day she died

The industry is still reeling from Tunisha Sharma’s tragic demise. The actress reportedly died by suicide; she was found hanging in a make-up room on the set of her TV show, Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Ishq, on December 24. Shivin Narang, her co-star from Internet Wala Love, was supposed to shoot a music video with her on that fateful day.

Shivin says, “I still can’t believe this has happened. Tunisha and I were supposed to shoot for a music video on December 23 and 24 in Mumbai.”

He says, “We were looking forward to reuniting after a long time. Imagine, we were supposed to shoot on the same day when this tragedy happened. However, a week prior I learnt that she had some health issues and the shoot had to be postponed. I wish we had shot that day... I probably would have understood her state of mind and could have helped her.”

Shivin and Tunisha became friends while shooting for Internet Wala Love (2018-2019), the latter’s first show in the lead role. He says, “It was a great association both professionally and personally. Despite being just 16, she was so good at her work and extremely professional. She would spread cheer on the set and we would do a lot of masti. There was never a day when we didn’t have lunch together or her mother didn’t cook for us. I shared a beautiful bond with her mother, too. We stayed connected after the show ended. They even invited me over for dinner when I went to their hometown, Chandigarh, earlier this year.”

The actor last met Tunisha a few months ago at an event. “She was so happy... we danced and shot several videos and pictures. I still can’t believe she is not with us anymore,” he recounts.

In January last year, Bombay Times carried Tunisha’s interview in which she spoke about her battle against depression. Talking about it, Shivin says, “She did have some anxiety issues. On one occasion, I even took her to a doctor. In fact, after she gave that interview on her battle against depression, we spoke during the lockdown and she told me that she was doing better.”
