There are plans to make a raft of changes at a popular Nottinghamshire pub.
A proposal to add two timber framed pergolas as well as the extension of the paved outdoor dining area at the Corn Mill pub in Beeston was submitted on January 28.
In a planning document, Greene King said the plans would "provide a family-friendly dining area next to the play area as well as an adult dining area of the smaller entrance area, welcoming additions for the entire community to enjoy".
A spokesperson for the Corn Mill said: “We are really thrilled to have submitted a planning application for the refurbishment of our garden area at the Corn Mill.
"We’ve got some exciting plans for the outside of the pub and we look forward to sharing an update on the refurbishments in due course.”
The owners said that the requirement for external covered dining is on the increase and that usage of the extension would not be dictated by the weather.
The interior of the site will remain as existing, and all customer entrance would be unaffected by the works being carried out.
The position of the proposed pergolas are to the main entrance area next to the outside play area and to the side entrance, as an extension of the existing smoking shelter. This area would see the paved area continued into the car park, taking away six parking spaces.
In a planning statement Concept IDL Ltd, on behalf of Greene King, said: "The proposals within the application have been designed to offer an altogether safer and more enjoyable experience for all people visiting the pub, particularly people local to the area who will have a better facility to enjoy only a short distance away.
"All works will be carried out to our client’s usual very high standards and will be promoted locally, creating interest around the site.
"People living within the immediate area are likely to want to experience the improvements to The Corn Mill, along with customers from further afield using this as a destination pub.
"The residential dwellings nearby will encourage people to walk to the site rather than driving to other pubs further away from the area which may already have abetter appeal to customers."
The application is currently pending consideration by Broxtowe Borough Council.
