Excitement over Nottingham park that's been turned into a Jurassic golf course with huge dinosaurs

There is excitement over a new dinosaur-themed golf course that's soon to open at Stockhill Park, near Basford. With a big banner that reads ‘coming soon’ hung up near the construction site, people feel the course will ‘benefit’ the area and give children something to do.

The Jurassic Cove Adventure Golf Course, built on a section of the park that's located off the A610 Nuthall Road and Stockhill Lane, between Aspley and junction 26 of the M1, will feature a total of six dinosaur figures on the site. This includes a massive T-Rex.

Jurassic Cove Adventure Golf will have an onsite café and its own dedicated car park. The site's opening will create three full-time job roles, with further part-time vacancies available during the summer.

Those who live in Stockhill Lane are excited for the golf course to be complete. Karen Jarvis, 44, is a receptionist.

Karen lives near to the new golf course in Old Basford. Karen said: “Something this big will only benefit the area.

“There’s loads of kids around here and it will bring people to Stockhill Lane too. Every time I walk past you can see that they’re getting on, I think when it opens, it’ll be great.”

The dinosaur figures took six weeks to build in Asia and their journey to Nottingham took another eight weeks by ship.

Matt McClung, 31, lives in Old Basford. He said: “My kids are so excited for this to be finished, I’ve promised them they can go and it would be their first time golfing.

“I think this will be good for the community, it’s something different and it will create jobs which is always a positive too.”

Matt is a lorry driver and has two young sons. He continued: “It’s a good family activity I think and will give parents something to do with their kids.” It has previously been reported the golf site is due to open at some point in July 2023.

Kate Morely, 33, lives in Nuthall. Kate comes to Old Basford on a regular basis. She said: “The dinosaurs definitely appeal to younger children and I think it’s great. It’s good to see something being built that’s not a takeaway, restaurant or anything to do with food.

“This is a big space and I think the golf course is the right thing for it.” Kate, who is kitchen manager, added: “I hope the prices aren’t too expensive but when it opens I shall definitely be paying it a visit.”
