Thousands of youngsters across Perth and Kinross dusted off their backpacks and donned their uniforms to return to school on Wednesday.
The day saw many excited children attending primary school for the very first time and many more make the formal transition to secondary school.
Perth and Kinross Council’s learning and families committee convener John Rebbeck took to social media at the start of the week to welcome children of all ages back to the classroom.
Speaking outside Tulloch Primary School, he said: “I’d very much like to take this opportunity to welcome everybody back to the new school year, particularly the P1s and the S1s.
“And it would be remiss of me at this stage not to congratulate everybody on a great set of exam results that we had and credit goes to school staff, parents, teachers, pupils – everybody.
“It was an incredible set of results and very well done.
“And also in this new school year we look forward to – hopefully – a better one after what’s been a challenging three years, and again credit goes to everybody, whether you’re school staff, a jannie, our catering staff, everybody that’s involved in it – pupils, parents [and] teachers alike. Let’s look forward to a great new year.
