Here are the exact areas in the UK that are set to be blasted by rocketing pollen counts as the Met Office sends a major hay fever warning.
Following on from a heatwave and recent sunny days, the country has since seen temperatures waiver and return towards the seasonal average.
But even as they do, the Met Office is warning Brits that pollen counts are set to reach their highest levels of the year and threaten to play havoc with anyone who suffers from hay fever.
Today, huge swathes of the country are said to have ‘very high’ pollen counts.
The Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber and the North East of England all have skyrocketing pollen counts today.
Meanwhile, Wales, the South West of England, Northern Ireland, the North West of England and Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian and Borders in Scotland, all have ‘high’ pollen levels.
The Met Office’s pollen forecasts are to try and give the roughly ten million Brits who are thought to suffer from hay fever an early warning of what’s to come.
Whilst Friday will see levels even off slightly, they are set to hike back up over the weekend and into early next week.
Tomorrow will see mostly medium levels of pollen across much of the UK, with high levels in parts of the East and South East of England.
But come Saturday and Sunday, very high levels will be registered again in the Midlands and North East before they seemingly get worse into Monday.
Over the next five days, the midlands are set to be hit the worst by the pollen, registering very high levels most days.
The weather forecast for the next five days:
Today:
Rain will be locally heavy, moving southeast across England and clearing during the day.
Following this, there will be drier and brighter conditions from the west with sunny spells possible.
There could be outbreaks of showers across Scotland and northern England and it will feel fresher than it has recently.
Tonight:
Once the showers have cleared across England and Wales there will be long clear spells.
In Scotland, showers will move east and cloud and rain are expected across the west at dawn.
Friday:
A bright start is due in the east with cloud in western areas that will move across the country with some outbreaks of rain.
But the heaviest showers are expected across Scotland along with strong winds.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Conditions will be changeable on Saturday with outbreaks of rain and brisk winds in the north.
Sunday and Monday will be mostly dry with sunny spells and scattered showers in the northwest.
