Exact time thunderstorm will hit Glasgow as city to be drenched in downpour

Glasgow is set to be drenched in downpour as thunderstorms are predicted to hit the city later this morning, bringing an end to the lovely spell of sunshine we have recently had. It comes as flood warnings are in place across parts of Scotland.

It's a cloudy start to this morning (June 26) before thunderous showers arrive at around 11am going into 12pm according to the Met Office.

There will be some light rain by 1pm with the thunderstorms expected to be over by then before the sun creeps back out for the rest of the day - with some showers hitting the city at the same time.

The Met Office forecast for Monday June 26 reads: "A bright day with some sunny spells. Scattered showers already affecting some western areas will develop further east by mid morning, possibly with the odd rumble of thunder.

"Occasionally fresh westerly winds. Maximum temperature 19 °C."

Forecasters say extreme temperatures will eventually return, with five more heatwaves to come this summer, The Mirror reports.
