Snow is set to blast Scotland this week as the Met Office has issued a warning ahead of snowfall that could reach up to 10cm.
Certain areas are expected to be hit with blizzard conditions and those driving or using public transport should consider preparing ahead of time.
The yellow warning for the wintery conditions will first come into place at midnight on Wednesday, December 7 and will last until 11.59pm. This means that affected areas could be hit with snow - and the potential disruption that it may cause - for the entire day.
The Met Office warning states: "Showers will fall as snow to low levels on Wednesday. Accumulations of 2-5 cm are possible at lower levels, with 5-10 cm above 200 metres, with some drifting and blizzard conditions in the strong northerly winds."
A large bulk of the north of Scotland will be included in the weather warning which was first issued on Saturday.
Temperatures are expected to fall well below freezing across the country.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Rebekah Sherwin, said: "A yellow National Severe Weather Warning for snow has been issued for Wednesday covering northern Scotland.
"We can expect to see some snow and wintry showers further south as the week progresses, particularly in coastal areas or over higher ground.
"There will be widespread frosts with temperatures falling to as low as -10°C overnight in isolated spots by the end of the week."
Last week, STV weatherman Sean Batt warned of early December snow and asked that Scots look out for "more vulnerable" people in their communities.
What to expect
The Met Office warning states: "Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services."
They advise that you prepare a "snow kit" for your car including an ice scraper and de-icer, a phone charger, warm clothes and blankets, high-vis clothing, food and drinks, and a shovel.
