Exact date of next heatwave after thunderstorms this weekend

Forecasters are predicting another heatwave in the coming weeks after thunder and rain this weekend.

Liverpool, much like the rest of the UK, has basked in glorious sunshine for a while now with above-average temperatures amid the year's first heatwave. But the Met Office has warned "unsettled" conditions will arrive in the UK on Saturday.

Saturday is said to be "another warm day with some sunny spells, though a more unsettled day than of late" with a "risk of some heavy downpours and thunderstorms". The Met Office said the unsettled weather will continue from Sunday to Tuesday with a "continued risk of heavy, thundery showers" and "warm, muggy nights".

However, another heatwave will soon be here, according to forecasters. For Merseyside to experience what is officially classed as a heatwave, temperatures must meet or exceed 25C for a period of at least three days.

The Met Office has said: "More settled conditions could return heading towards the end of June, leading to a general reduction in rainfall" and predicts temperatures will "largely remain above average towards the end of the month".

Elsewhere Accuweather has forecast the exact date another heatwave could hit the city. Its meteorologists predict sunshine and highs of 26C on Monday, June 26.

The warm spell will continue through that week with highs of 25C on Tuesday, June 27, and 26C on Wednesday, June 28. Things will then turn cooler on Thursday, June 29, forecasters have said.
