Ex-West Ham striker's verdict on Bolton Wanderers handball shout for MK Dons opening goal

Mo Eisa did not handball for MK Dons' opener against Bolton and keeping a clean sheet against a free scoring Wanderers side will please Liam Manning.

That's according to former West Ham United and England striker Dean Ashton.

Eisa put the hosts ahead in the first half of the 2-0 victory where for most of it, Wanderers were second best in the encounter at Stadium MK.

Amadou Bakayoko struck the bar with a powerful header from Declan John's corner before the break, before skipper Ricardo Santos headed over from another delivery in the second half as Bolton improved and sought to equalise.

But the hosts got their second goal when James Trafford's pass out from the back was pounced upon by Kaine Kesler Hayden and Scott Twine's deflected effort went in, as Wanderers now sit seven points from the play-off places.

The Dons, in contrast, are now level on points with second-placed Wigan Athletic after the Latics were beaten by Sunderland.

Ian Evatt believed that Eisa handled the ball before putting it in the back of the net for the opening strike.

But speaking on the EFL highlights show on Quest, Ashton disagree with that assessment and believes Twine played a key role in helping to create the second goal, as he also pointed to the Dons shutting out a Bolton side which had been free scoring in the build-up.

He said: "Coming out there Harry Darling with the shot, that's not handball it's that t-shirt line at the bottom of the armpit for Mo Eisa.

"That's his first home goal since August and Twine, it was him that closed down the goalkeeper that led to the mistake and back on the scoresheet, that's his first goal in six he's really, really important for them.

"But the clean sheet as well against a Bolton side that are free scoring, I think will please Liam Manning."
