Colourful ex-Tory MP Neil Hamilton was recovering last night after cracking six ribs in a mystery fall.
Hamilton, 71, also hurt a vertebrae and his spleen and TV personality wife Christine rushed to his aid, waiting five and a half hours with him at an A&E.
Christine said her husband, the UKIP MP for Mid and West Wales, was on the mend.
She wrote online: “Could be far worse but men are not good patients. AARGH.”
Among those offering get well soon messages was TV historian Mary Beard.

Hamilton was MP for Tatton, Cheshire but in 1996 he became embroiled in a cash-for-questions scandal and lost his seat to white-suited journalist Martin Bell in the 1997 election.
In 2001 the couple appeared in a Louis Theroux documentary but critics called their saucy behaviour on it “toe-curling”.
During filming they faced false rape claims and made headlines when police asked if they attended swinging or wife-swapping parties.
Fantasist Nadine Milroy-Sloan was jailed for making bogus allegations.
Hamilton was elected to the Welsh Parliament in 2016. It was unclear where he fell.
The couple’s main home is a £1.5million house in Wiltshire.
