Ex-Titans punter Brett Kern drawing interest from Bills

Once the Tennessee Titans announced the release of long-time punter Brett Kern, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that he would end up with the Buffalo Bills, a team that recently became in need of a punter.

Well, the seemingly inevitable marriage between the two has made its first step, as The Athletic’s Tim Graham is reporting that the Bills have already reached out to Kern’s camp, and did so just hours after his release.

Making the fit even better is the fact that Kern is a native of Grand Island, New York, which is just 15 minutes or so from Buffalo.

Kern spent 13 years with the Titans and became one of the best punters in the NFL in that span, notching one First-Team All-Pro nod and three Pro Bowl appearances. While his leg wasn’t always the biggest, he was second to none when it came to accuracy and pinning opponents deep.

After a few down years, Kern looked good in camp and preseason in 2022 but was outdone by rookie punter Ryan Stonehouse, who offers the Titans a long-term solution at the position.

It’ll be tough to see Kern go to a team that will be among Tennessee’s biggest competition for an AFC crown, but at least he’ll have a good chance to win his first Super Bowl if he ends up with the Bills.
