When he takes the field as an official for Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, ex-Tennessee Titans linebacker Terry Killens will be making NFL history.
Killens will serve as the umpire for the game, which will make him the first person in league history to both play in and officiate a Super Bowl.
The 49-year-old was originally selected by the Houston Oilers in the third round of the 1996 NFL draft.
He spent five seasons with the Oilers/Titans, which included the 1999 campaign, when the Titans went to Super Bowl XXXIV and lost to the St. Louis Rams. Killens tallied one special teams tackle in the contest.

After his handful of seasons with the Oilers/Titans, Killens played in 16 games with the San Francisco 49ers in 2001 and in three contests with the Seattle Seahawks in 2002 before hanging up his cleats.
The Chiefs and 49ers kick off on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m. EST in Las Vegas.
