New Delhi: Former Shahdara MLA and social worker Jitender Singh Shunty on Thursday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of former Delhi Chief Minister and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
Shunty known for humanitarian efforts
Shunty, the president of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Foundation, known for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Padma Shree
Shunty has been awarded Padma Shree for his social services.
He was elected Shahdara MLA in 2013 on BJP ticket when BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal fought election together.

In 2015, he contested as the BJP candidate but lost to Ram Niwas Goel.
He joined the party shortly Delhi Assembly Speaker and Shahdara MLA Ram Niwas Goel announced retirement from electoral politics.
