Ex-Scots youth football coach arrested after extradition from Vietnam over historic child sexual abuse allegations

A former youth football coach has been extradited to Scotland from Vietnam to face historic allegations of child sex abuse.

On Tuesday January 18, Kenneth Divers was arrested under an Interpol Red Notice and has now been brought back to the country by UK law enforcement officials.

After the 77-year-old was flown to Heathrow, he was transported to Glasgow and then arrested by officers from Paisley.

The former secondary school teacher is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.

His arrest was carried out by Vietnamese authorities and supported by the National Crime Agency at the request of Police Scotland.

In 2016 Scottish and European warrants were issued for the arrest of Divers after he was accused of carrying out a string of sex attacks on young boys in the 60s and 70s.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Thursday, January 20, officers from Paisley arrested a 77-year-old man at Glasgow Airport.

He was arrested and charged in connection with an outstanding warrant and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday, January 21."

Detective Superintendent Alan Henderson added: “We are grateful to the authorities in Vietnam and our colleagues at the National Crime Agency for their assistance with this matter."
