An incident earlier this year involving former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has resulted in a lawsuit for wrongful death and negligence. The lawsuit was filed by the daughter of the deceased pedestrian, who tragically lost his life in the collision.

The incident occurred on March 18 in Alhambra, east of Los Angeles, when Klinghoffer allegedly hit 47-year-old Israel Sanchez while he was walking in a crosswalk. The collision, captured on video by a neighbor's Ring camera, showed a black SUV driven by Klinghoffer striking Sanchez during a left turn at an intersection.

Israel Sanchez suffered fatal blunt force trauma to the head and passed away a few hours later at the hospital. The lawsuit also claims that Klinghoffer was using a cellphone while driving, as evidenced by video footage showing him holding an object above the steering wheel.

The plaintiff, Ashley Sanchez, described her father as a talented chef and a loving grandfather known for his infectious smile and joyful demeanor. She expressed her devastation over losing him due to what she referred to as a careless act by Klinghoffer.

Klinghoffer, who is currently touring with the band Pearl Jam, has not provided a comment on the matter. The plaintiff's attorney criticized law enforcement for what he called a failure to properly investigate the incident, labeling it as a 'reckless homicide'.

Alhambra police confirmed that the case remains active and declined to provide further details at this time.
