Ex-Rangers striker Tony Weston set for trial with Derby

Former Rangers striker Tony Weston is set for a trial at Derby County.

The Daily Record reports that the English League One side will cast their eye over the 19-year-old.

He will join his former Gers teammate Charlie Lindsay in training with the Rams this week.

Both players left Ibrox last month after their contracts expired. The pair are now working to earn new contracts elsewhere as they aim to secure their futures.

Weston arrived for a significant six-figure fee at Ibrox in 2020, but failed to live up to that billing.

The attacker struggled to make an impact and made just one senior appearance for the club.

He featured on loan for Partick Thistle and Cove Rangers last term.

Derby, who are looking to earn promotion to the Championship this season, are keen to boost their first-team and development squads this summer.

Meanwhile, Rangers are reportedly ready to end away fan lockouts with Celtic.

The Scottish Sun claims the Ibrox club are prepared to offer their arch-Glasgow rivals some tickets for the first derby encounter of the new season.

They state that 700 briefs will be handed to the Hoops for the game on Sunday, September 3.

Should the move go through, Rangers will be the first to propose changes to the 'no away fans' stand-off between the clubs.
