Ex-Rangers star Kyle Lafferty joins Johnstone Burgh as he teams up with Graham Dorrans in major coup

Kyle Lafferty is back in football after joining Johnstone Burgh in a major coup for the WOSFL side.

The Northern Ireland international will join former Rangers star Graham Dorrans at the PDM Buildbase First Division club as he begins a fresh chapter in his career. At just 35, the hitman will bring vast knowledge and experience of the game that his new team-mates can learn from after playing at the top level for the likes of Rangers, Hearts and Kilmarnock in Scotland. He's played south of the border with Burnley and Norwich City while he has also turned out in Italy over the course of his career for Palermo and Reggina.

His globetrotting doesn't stop there with adventures in Switzerland with FC Sion, Norway with Sarpsborg and Cyprus with Anorthosis Famagusta. His last transfer to Linfield didn't quite work out after leaving Kilmarnock with the experienced forward failing to hit the back of the net. But he has found a new home as he gets set to start life at Keanie Park putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Boss Jamie McKim said: "I'm delighted Kyle has chosen to join us, we met him several times to try and sell the project to him and I'm delighted that he bought into it.

"He will be huge on and off the pitch for us this season and I can't wait to see him in action with his team-mates."

A club statement reads "Johnstone Burgh FC are delighted to announce the signing of Northern Ireland center forward Kyle Lafferty on a two-year contract, subject to international clearance.

"Kyle, who has 89 caps and has 20 goals for his country, joins us following a season where he spent the first part with Kilmarnock FC in the SPFL, before joining Linfield FC for the second part.

"As well as having two stints at Rangers, where he played in the UEFA Champions League and won the Scottish Premier League, Kyle has also turned out for Hearts in Scotland, as well as spells with Norwich, Sunderland, FC Sion & Reggina. We are delighted Kyle will join us and look forward to him joining the squad."
