Ex-Rangers star Arfield leaves pitch to standing ovation after hat-trick on debut

Former Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield left the pitch to a standing ovation on his return debut for Falkirk.

The ex-Ibrox ace netted an incredible hat-trick in his first match back at the Scottish Championship club since sealing an emotion return on deadline day.

Arfield has penned an initial six-month deal with Falkirk but with the option fo a further year. He left Bolton to complete a move back north to rejoin the club.

The former Canadian internationalist was handed his first start back at Falkirk in the Scottish Championship against Partick Thistle on Saturday.

Within 45 seconds, Arfield had scored. The former Burnley midfielder put his side in front within the first minute as Falkirk would go on to claim a 5-2 triumph at home.

Arfield would grab a second five minutes before the break as arrowed into the bottom corner.

Ten minutes into the second half Arfield had secured the match ball as he earned a hat-trick. Following a handball in the box, Falkirk were awarded a penalty and Arfield fired home.

Arfield's stunning return debut earned him a standing ovation as he left the field with 72 minutes on the clock.

A Falkirk update read: "A standing ovation around The Falkirk Stadium as Scott Arfield is replaced by Aidan Nesbitt.

"Dylan Tait and Coll Donaldson also make way, for Finn Yeats and Darragh O’Connor. 4-2." 

Arfield would then celebrate his hat-trick at full-time as supporters chanted his name as he posed with the match ball.
