Ex-Rangers star Alfredo Morelos on brink of transfer to end Santos misery

Alfredo Morelos is on the brink of securing a move back to Colombia and ending his Santos misery in Brazil, with ambitious America de Cali.

The former Rangers striker has managed just four starts for the famous club this season, after Pele's old team were relegated into the second tier of football for the first time.

He's netted just twice in 11 appearances and is so far out of the picture, he hasn't even featured in almost a month now.

Morelos has been told he can leave for nothing if a suitable offer comes in that will match his reported £19,000-a-week wages in Brazil.

Another Colombian team - Atletico Junior - initially held talks with Santos and tried to sign him last month, but the deal stalled and he remained in Brazil.

However, America de Cali have opened negotiations with Morelos and his representatives and see him as their star signing for the second stage of the Colombian season.

Morelos left Colombia in 2016 when he moved from Independiente Medellín to HJK Helsinki. before joining Rangers in 2017.

He scored 124 goals in 269 games for Rangers before finally clinching a return to South America last year.

And the 28-year-old, who left Rangers last summer after 178 league appearances, where he scored 78 league goals and 124 in all competitions during a six-year spell, will finally seal a return home.
