Ex-Rangers owner Craig Whyte's dad quits £1million firm

The father of former Rangers owner Craig Whyte has left a £1million company.

Official documents state that Tom Whyte was replaced at Paisley-based Saltire Management Solutions by a new sole director – an Argentinian called Clara Ferrari, 28, who lives in England, according to company documents.

Saltire, which has £984,000 in net assets filed in its latest accounts, is officially based at the same address in Paisley as a controversial company run by Whyte, 75, which was wound-up after a Daily Record investigation.

A probe by the Insolvency Service also found Tom Whyte had claimed a £50,000 bounceback loan despite the company not trading. The loan has not been paid back.

We exposed how Fortress Restructuring Ltd was charging business owners to instruct them on how to illegally dodge tax and other debts and cheat employees out of redundancy money.

The Record last year told how Fortress had given false details about having a turnover of more than £250,000 to receive the £50,000 bounceback loan meant for struggling firms. We told how the cash was not used for company business, with a “substantial portion” going on personal spending.

Meanwhile, Craig Whyte, 50, faces a trial for allegedly failing to cooperate with a finance probe. He is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday.
