Steven Gerrard's reputation as a top-class manager is "in the toilet" according to outspoken pundit Simon Jordan.
The former Rangers boss is currently out of management but has been linked with a shock move to Saudi Arabia.
Gerrard has been working as a pundit himself during a break from the game after being sacked as Aston Villa manager following his switch from Ibrox.
And talkSPORT contributor Jordan reckons Gerrard's reputation as an elite manager is in tatters after his dismissal from Villa Park last year.
"Gerrard needs to rebuild," commented Jordan on the former Rangers boss. "His reputation is in the toilet as a top-class manager.
"He made a Horlicks of the Aston Villa job. I said he would and he did. And Unai Emery has made what Gerrard did look comparatively simple by producing a group of players, who are ostensibly the same, into a quite formidable side.
"With that in mind, in Premier League terms, there is not a job for Steven Gerrard right now."
Gerrard had been heavily tipped to return to management at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi league.
But, Jordan has warned a move to the big-money division for Gerrard could be perceived as a lack of belief in himself - albeit he admitted the decision would be tempting.
Jordan added: "If Gerrard wants to do that then he doesn't believe he has got the chops to be a top-class manager.
"He believes the importance of the remuneration he is going to get in Saudi, in this instance, is greater than, perhaps, looking around and taking an opportunity somewhere more meaningful in football terms not financial terms.
"That's easy for me to say because I am not the one being offered a King's ransom to manage in these leagues."
On the links to Al-Ettifaw, Gerrard previously said on on Channel 4: "I was invited over there to look at a potential offer, which I did.
"I have been analysing that over the last couple of days. But, as we stand right now, I won't be taking that offer up."
However, recent reports have suggested talks have resumed and Gerrard could yet return to the dugout in Saudi.
