Ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard lodges official Saudi Pro League complaint

Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has filed a complaint to the Saudi Pro League following the officiating in a recent defeat for Al-Ettifaq.

The Liverpool legend has gone to league chiefs after being incensed by some of the decisions made by the referee in his side's 3-2 loss to Al-Orubah on Sunday.

Gerrard was unhappy with ref Mohammed Saif Al-Harbi for showing a red card to Abdullah Radif.

The incident occurred between goals from João Costa and Gini Wijnaldum to fire Ettifaq ahead.

Gerrard watched on in disbelief as his team crumbled in the second half, leaving them three games without a win now.

Speaking afterwards in a fiery press conference, he said: "I am not happy with the referee decision at the red card. It was a really bad decision and it changed the whole match going and made it more difficult, a complaint will be filed against the referee, as he was never close to what is required from the beginning of the match to the end of it.

"We came back after the first goal, and the opponent scored a goal. It's our fault we are supposed to be stationed in the right place."

The result marked back-to-back defeats for Ettifaq, who currently sit ninth in the Pro League after seven matches played.
