Ex-Rangers and Hibs star Brandon Barker on decision to join former Celtic boss Neil Lennon in Cyprus

Brandon Barker has opened up on his decision to move to Cyprus and hook up with Neil Lennon at Omonia Nicosia.

The ex-Rangers and Hibs winger has put pen to paper on a two-year deal and joins former Celtic full-back Adam Matthews in signing up for a reunion with his former boss. The 25-year-old played under Lennon during a spell at Easter Road and says working with him once again was the main reason behind his move abroad. Barker has vowed to give everything he can for his new club and try and excite the fans .

Ex-Celtic boss Lennon will lead his new side into Europa League qualifiers this summer after landing domestic silverware after just a few months in charge by lifting the Cypriot Cup. He has lots of experience bossing on the European stage in both the Champions League and Europa League and he will be aiming to tap into those and go on an adventure with his new side.

On his decision to join Omonia, Barker said: "I'm very excited to be here. When I came here I was a little scared at first because I left my home. But, I think I have made a very good choice.

"The main reason I came here was because of Neil Lennon. It definitely made my decision easier because we knew each other before.

"He brought out the best in me on the pitch and that always helps. I came here and I am ready to work hard, to return to my best.

"I can use my European experience from my previous teams. It is something extraordinary and the club deserves to compete in Europe. It gives the fans and the players something to look forward to when the season starts.

"My message to the fans is that I will give everything, I will try to do my best to excite them in every game."
