Ex-Rangers ace must make 'big impression' to save EPL future

Former Rangers player Nathan Patterson reportedly faces a fight for his future under Sean Dyche at Everton.

The injured Scotland international - who celebrates his birthday today - remains on the sidelines after rupturing his hamstring in April earlier this year, which forced him out of Euro 2024.

The Liverpool Echo claims that the right-back, 23, will need to make a 'big impression' if he's to remain at Goodison upon his return to first team action, though.

The source says that he could be shown the door next summer if he fails to make the right-back slot his own when fit again.

He signed from Rangers in January 2022 for around £16m.

Due to a fixture of form and a tough time with injuries, he's never really managed to oust Seamus Coleman from right-back.

Dyche has opted to play the likes of Ben Godfrey, Ashley Young and James Garner in that position as well.

Patterson does have 48 Toffees appearances to his name.

Meanwhile, Rangers defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo impressed for Netherlands Under-21s on Monday night, providing two assists in their 3-0 win over Sweden.

The 22-year-old – who is on loan from Feyenoord – started at left-back for the young Oranje who completed their perfect European qualification campaign with 10 wins from 10 at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen.

After just two minutes, Strasbourg forward Emanuel Emegha headed in the opener from Kasanwirjo’s teasing cross.

The Rangers man then laid off a second goal for Rav van den Berg, knocking the ball towards the back post for the Middlesbrough defender to fire home for the hosts.

An own goal from Noah Elie completed the scoring after half time.
