Ex-Rangers ace Malik Tillman 'eyed up' for shock move

Former Rangers ace Malik Tillman could be set for a shock move to a giant of European football in January.

Reports have emerged suggesting that Juventus are interested in the ex-Gers loanee.

The USA international spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven. That move from Bayern Munich was turned permanent this summer.

The 22-year-old was transferred to the Eredivisie outfit in a deal worth €12m (£10.1m), with Bayern holding a buy-back clause of €35 m (£29.5m) after helping PSV to win the Dutch title.

Tillman spent the 2022/23 season on loan in the Scottish Premiership. He was a standout for Rangers that campaign, scoring 12 goals in 42 matches as an attacking midfielder.

At the end of that season, then-manager Michael Beale was keen on making his stay a permanent one, but the £5m fee required at the time was a stumbling block.

Rangers ended up pocketing some cash instead, as due to a 10 percent clause inserted in the loan deal that took him to Ibrox, they banked around £1.2m as PSV activated their option to sign Tillman permanently.

Now, according to Italian media source Tuttosport, Juventus are looking at Tillman as an option for the January transfer window.

The Serie A giants have a number of options on their radar, including Ricardo Pepi and Jonathan David.

New Juve boss Thiago Motta already has US internationals Weston McKennie and ex-Celtic player Timothy Weah in his first team, so, should Tillman be signed, he'd have some familiar faces to help him integrate into life in Italy.

Meanwhile, Ianis Hagi has sent a reminder of what he's capable of on the pitch to Philippe Clement and the higher-ups at Rangers.

The Ibrox attacker has been frozen out of the first team picture and consigned to the B team after it was made clear he's not part of Clement's plans.
