Ex-Panthers WR Diontae Johnson waived by Texans after reportedly ‘making a scene’ in locker room

Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, also known as former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson and former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson, is now former Houston Texans wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

As officially announced on Tuesday afternoon, the Texans have waived Johnson as they head towards their divisional-round matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Houston is now the fourth organization this season to move off the former Pro Bowl pass catcher.

Johnson, who was visibly upset during Saturday’s wild-card round win over the Los Angeles Chargers, reportedly “made a scene” in the locker room following the outing:

ESPN also reported that Johnson was “fully dressed sitting at his locker staring in frustration because of a lack of playing time and targets.” He recorded one catch for 12 yards on one target in the 32-12 victory.

His tumultuous 2024 campaign began with the Panthers, who acquired him from the Steelers in March in a deal involving cornerback Donte Jackson and a pick swap. Johnson ended up playing in seven games for Carolina before they traded him to Baltimore in October.

The Ravens would then part ways with a disgruntled Johnson after four games, waiving him on Dec. 20.

Johnson made just two appearances for Houston.
