Ex-Palestinian FM expects no progress in Gaza war 'as long as Netanyahu is there'

FRANCE 24 spoke to Nasser al-Qudwa, a former Palestinian foreign minister and nephew of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, about the war in Gaza, which is now in its 12th month. Qudwa said that Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his government "doesn't give a damn about international law". "As long as Mr Netanyahu is there, I don't think that we will see some real progress on the ground," he said. Qudwa also claimed that Israel's real goal was not to destroy Hamas but to "destroy the Palestinian people" and "maybe re-occupy Gaza".

Along with former Israeli premier Ehud Olmert, Qudwa recently drafted a peace plan based on a two-state solution.

However, he admitted that this proposal would need support from "relevant governments, including in the region" in order to be implemented.
