NSW Fair Trading has issued a public warning on Mos X Daily, the sea moss brand owned by former Married At First Sight groom Brent Vitiello. The alert comes months after the business was embroiled in controversy following allegations of “scamming” consumers — an accusation the former MAFS groom strongly denies.
On March 1, 2025, NSW Fair Trading warned consumers “not to deal” with Mos X Daily after it “received 45 complaints” regarding the business since January 2024.
According to the government body, the complaints were in regards to pre-paid online orders, and cited concerns with:
- Substantial delays in receiving products ordered
- Products not supplied
- Poor or out-of-date products
- The business ceases communication when consumers raise their concerns.

NSW Fair Trading has also listed concerns with Mos X Daily’s claim it donates a portion of each sale to the One Dollar One Dream charity, stating the brand “has not been substantiated that the funds have been transferred from the business to the charity.”
“NSW Fair Trading is concerned that consumers that order from Mos X Daily may be at financial loss,” NSW Fair Trading wrote.

Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Vitiello said the information in the NSW Fair Trading warning was nothing new and that the issues raised in the statement were the same ones he addressed on TikTok in December 2024.
“The challenges faced from sending the purest sea moss straight from the source location certainly hasn’t been easy and we’re the only brand in the world to do this, this information isn’t anything new, it’s exactly the same issues the media was writing about in December, Fair Trading is just writing about it now. We gave out 30,000 orders for free, not products, orders — so we’re still working through the backlog,” Vitiello shared,
“Like I said in December, we’re committed to resolving these challenges and getting back to business as usual.
“Poking holes at the integrity of our foundation brand is disappointing when we assist hundreds of Timorese people every day in third-world communities. I stand by our products, our foundation and we will get every single order out as we said we would.”

In response to the claims regarding Mos X Daily’s donations to One Dollar One Dream, Vitiello claims that the business’ contribution has been “provided on various occasions to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission”.
“Our charity efforts have well and truly exceed our pledge,” he said.
“Our current project provides sea moss to 1,000 school children and aspiring athletes in Timor-Leste, completely at our cost every single day to assist in fighting malnutrition in this country, along with countless other activations that some you can find on our socials.
“The whole core of this business is based on creating jobs, supporting farmers and giving back to the communities and the reason our entire operation is in Timor-Leste. We don’t purchase our products from Alibaba with no core connection.”
In April last year, Vitiello told PEDESTRIAN.TV the widespread complaints over delays were due to issues with Australia Post, and the company had switched to using DHL.
However, months later customers were apparently still not receiving their orders, with Vitiello taking to TikTok in December 2024 to claim the harvesting process and the risk of quality control were causing delays.
“I’ve been seeing a lot of videos being made of me and of the business on TikTok and I can’t really defend myself because I very rarely use the platform,” he said.
“I think now I’m going to use that platform and be on TikTok every single day explaining what’s going on behind the scenes, what’s happening with orders, what we’re doing with the foundation and basically every movement so people are very aware of what’s going on.”
In the same TikTok, the former reality star also took aim at the “scam” allegations, stating that the allegations “take away from the hard work” of the employees of Mos X Daily.
Although it has been a couple of months since Vitiello has provided an update on his sea moss business, folks who’ve claimed to have recently bought from the brand claim it is a scam.

NSW Fair Trading has urged Mos X Daily consumers who are dissatisfied with their interactions with the business to lodge a complaint through its website or at any Service NSW Centre.
