In news straight from the Married At First Sight (MAFS) multiverse, it appears that Cleo Rutene, the twin of 2025 bride Awhina Rutene, is now beefing with 2024 bride Bronte Schofield for texting Adrian Araouzou throughout filming. WOOF. I need a Reunion episode just for the online tea!
One of the major beefs to fall out of this year’s season of MAFS is the ongoing feud of Cleo vs Adrian. To catch you up on all of the shade that’s been thrown, Cleo — who is the twin sister of Awhina — has been very vocal about her thoughts on her sister’s ‘husband’.
From social media comments to TikTok videos with snarky captions, it’s clear Cleo is Adrian’s biggest hater, and honestly, I don’t blame her.
Two out of the four times she appeared on the show alongside Awhina, Cleo clashed with Adrian. The first time was during Family and Friends Week, when we saw Cleo and Awhina get into a verbal scuffle with Adrian’s friend Jasmine and sisters Elita and Nikola.

The second time was during Homestays, to which she dropped the iconic line to Adrian, “Me and Awhina look at life like a book, we both read. I’m looking at you as a chapter in her life I just don’t see you as the ending.”
But amongst that hullabaloo, it now appears that Cleo has a bone to pick with MAFS 2024 bride Bronte Schofield after she was papped “flirting up a storm” with Adrian.
Why is Cleo Rutene beefing with Bronte Schofield?
The beef appears to stem from a post from MAFS Gossip (@mafsgossip) where they shared a bunch of paparazzi pics of Adrian and Bronte hanging out at a bar.
According to the MAFS sleuths, the cheeky hangout came days after Adrian was caught “liking [Bronte’s] sizzling bikini snaps on Instagram”, further adding fuel to dating rumours.
In response to the snaps, Cleo commented under the Instagram post, calling out the 2024 bride for not only hanging out with Adrian but also for allegedly texting him throughout the experiment.
“Having done this experience yourself and knowing how emotional this experiment was, to then text another bride’s husband the entire time,” Cleo wrote alongside a clapping emoji.
Cleo’s juicy comment attracted the support of many MAFS viewers, with some even expressing their shock with Bronte’s alleged actions behind Awhina’s back.
“What a girls girl right?!” one person wrote.
“Wait, were they texting during filming? Your poor sister,” another commented.
“Holy shit this man gets more vile as time goes past, I’m so sorry. I hope your sister is doing better now,” wrote a third.
Bronte’s MAFS ‘husband’, controversial groom and reality TV villain Harrison Boon, also responded to Cleo’s comment, writing, “Did you really expect anything less from her? Genuine question.”
“I didn’t know who she was before this to be fair,” Cleo replied.
Bronte Schofield responds to Cleo Rutene’s claims
In response to the spicy claims, Bronte claimed that she and Adrian knew each other before the show happened. Through a series of juicy Instagram Stories, jam-packed with screenshots, Bronte revealed that Adrian slid into her DMs via a reply to one of her IG Q&As.
According to the screenshots provided by Bronte, it appeared that their conversations surrounded the filming of MAFS, with Adrian asking the former bride for advice.
However, things took a turn when Bronte decided to address Cleo’s claims head-on, describing her IG comment as “total crap”.
“Cleo, I would really love to know what facts you stand on, on the fact that I was texting another bride’s husband the entire time,” Bronte shared in an IG Story, which has since been shared as a full-length TikTok.
“As you saw in the last messages, I did not reach out to Adrian. Adrian reached out to me over Instagram.
“So Cleo, babe, I really hope that you’ve watched that, because everything that you have said is total crap.
“There is protecting your sister, and then there is just being down [right] mean.”
Towards the end of her video statement, Bronte revealed that she’d been showered with hateful comments over the cheating rumours and urged folks to “go to the source” when gossip begins to bubble.
“I’m just living my life, and then I have to wake up on my Sunday morning with comments like this,” Bronte shared alongside a bunch of hateful comments.
“It’s just not giving girls girl. If you really were for the girls, you would have jumped to your story. You would have messaged me privately, anything to get my side of the story. But you know, deep down, that is full of shit. Like you’re full of shit.
“Anyway, guys. I really don’t want this [to get] messy. I actually just think that this whole thing could have just been avoided. If they just came to the source first. As you can see, I have receipts for everything. I have not done a single thing wrong. And if you think I have, go touch some fucking grass.”
At the time of writing, Cleo has not responded to what Bronte had to say on TikTok. But, with Cleo’s fiery social media moves, I wouldn’t be surprised if she soon comes out, guns blazing.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the tea is gonna be!
