Ex-Loose Women star Andrea McLean has her 'dream come true' filming for rival BBC show

Andrea McLean has gushed over her "dream come true" moment as she wrapped up filming for her latest TV stint.

The former Loose Women presenter was a staple on the ITV daytime show between 2007 and 2020. Prior to that, she had featured on GMTV for 11 years from 1997.

But now, the Scottish presenter, 53, has up rooted and moved to rivals BBC for her latest project. And in doing so she's ticked off one of her life's ambitions.

Andrea revealed she had recently wrapped up filming for an episode of Mastermind, with her specialist subject being the film The Sound of Music.

Stopping short of telling her fans how she fared, she took to Instagram and said: "Guess what I’ve been up to today?! It was a bit of a dream come true, being on @bbcmastermind.

"My specialist subject was… the film The Sound of Music! Why? Because growing up we had two VHS videos: Star Wars, and The Sound of Music. And for a full year, aged nine, it was literally all I watched… I can’t tell you how I did, you’ll have to tune in, but I LOVED IT!!! #mastermind #thesoundofmusic #quiz #bbc. #mastermind #thehillsarealive"

Fans were quick to praise her on her announcement, with on admitting it was "brilliant" she'd ticked off a bucket list event.

Another wrote: "Adding a bit of glamour to Mastermind. I shall have to watch it," while a third added: "Oh wow that would have been mine too. I have watch it at least 100 times. When will mastermind be on?"

Earlier this year, Andrea revealed she left her longtime role on Loose Women as she was determined to start a new life. While those around her said she might live to regret the decision, she stuck to her guns and now, over two years later, she hasn't looked back.

She said: "I have no regrets at all, 100%. I look back really fondly on my time there, and I was so lucky. I had the best job in the world but it just didn’t fit anymore.

"That’s not a bad thing, we all change and you’re not the same person a decade later. Most of us will outgrow our jobs at some point."
