Ex-Lions first-rounder arrested for disrupting an international flight

Gosder Cherilus is a name most Detroit Lions fans haven’t heard in a while. The former first-round offensive lineman is back in the news, and unfortunately it’s not for a good reason.

Cherilus, now 40, was arrested on Sunday during a Delta Airlines flight from Boston to Ireland. According to CBS News, Cherilus caused a disruption by urinating on another passenger and then refused to cooperate with authorities,

“Troopers verbally commanded Cherilus to leave the plane, but he became irate and uncooperative. Eventually, Troopers escorted Cherilus to the jet bridge and placed him under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing a Flight Crew,” police said in their statement.

Cherilus was Detroit’s first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft after playing collegiately at Boston College. He was the team’s immediate starting right tackle and played five seasons in Detroit. Cherilus then played two seasons each with the Colts and Buccaneers before ending his NFL career.
