Former Detroit Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah was seemingly always battling injuries in his three seasons in Detroit. It seems the injury bug has followed Okudah to his new home in Atlanta, unfortunately.
Okudah was carted off the field during Falcons training camp on Friday morning. Numerous firsthand accounts of Okudah’s injury indicate it was an ankle injury and did not look good for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. The Lions traded Okudah to the Falcons in the offseason.
It’s important to not read too much into the “carting off” phrasing. Detroit’s own C.J. Gardner-Johnson was carted off on a Monday and back practicing on Friday, after all. But given Okudah’s lengthy injury history, it’s hard not to think about the worst outcome. Here’s hoping for the best for Okudah!
