Ex-Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips reveals he has a forthcoming Amazon documentary on the way

Former Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has revealed that he has been working on an Amazon documentary for the last two months. Phillips left Elland Road after 12 years at his boyhood club to join Manchester City for £42.5m earlier this summer.

The 26-year-old featured from the bench in City’s pre-season victories over Club America and Bayern Munich respectively, but was an unused substitute in their Community Shield defeat against Liverpool last Saturday.

With the 2022 World Cup on the horizon, Phillips has accepted a request to film a documentary and has had cameras following him around since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium.

“Yeah, I’m working on an Amazon documentary,” Phillips revealed to GQ Magazine. “We’ve been working together for the last two months or so and it has been good.

"As soon as they came to me and said that they wanted to do it, I was like, ‘Yeah I want to inspire a lot of people and young children’.

“It’s not all about football, it’s about how I am as a person and family life and everything outside of football.

"It might show a lot of young kids that no matter what you look like or where you are from or how hard your childhood’s been, it’s how hard you work and what you can achieve when you work so hard.”

The timing of the documentary means that it is likely to cover his emotional Leeds United exit last month when the Thorp Arch graduate called time on his Whites career.

Phillips could potentially make his competitive debut for City when they travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham United on Sunday.
