A former lawyer has been charged after allegedly trafficking more than 120kg of cocaine hidden in a van transporting frozen chickens.
Australian Federal Police allege Michael Bosscher, 55, was involved in a plot to transport cocaine from Melbourne to Sydney in a van loaded with frozen chickens in August 2022.
The Wacol man faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday after he was charged with trafficking commercial quantities of a controlled drug.
The offence holds a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Bosscher's lawyer moved for the drug trafficking charge to be adjourned until May 17 so it could be joined with related matters.
He was remanded in custody until then.
Bosscher is also accused of being involved with another man in a syndicate that laundered $4.5 million in October 2022.
At the time, police searched Queensland properties in Helensvale, Graceville, Bardon and Brisbane.
Police allege officers found $70,000 in cash in safes hidden under stairs and in a cash counter at the Bardon property and another $160,000 in a safe at Helensvale.
Bosscher was charged with conspiring to deal in the proceeds of crime and dealing with the value of money or property over $1 million.
The offence holds a potential sentence of 25 years in prison.
