A Chinese groom spent his big day dodging a swarm of his ex-girlfriends who vowed to "destroy" him by revealing details about his womanising past.
The man, whose surname is Chen, was about to tie the knot when a group of his exes showed up on February 6, hoisting a large red banner.
The sign read: "“We are the team of Chen’s ex-girlfriends, today we will destroy you.”
In a clip of the incident, a group of women stand silently on a road outside the venue in Yunnan, southwest China, holding the large banner aloft.
Their obvious dislike of the groom attracted attention, with wedding guests gathering around them to ask what they were doing and why.
Speaking to local outlet Feidian Video, Chen said: "It embarrassed me quite a lot. Now my newlywed wife has fallen out with me.”
The bride and her parents were not best pleased and have demanded an explanation.
Chen admitted to his former womanising, saying that he "hurt many girls" because he was "immature" when he was a younger man.
He didn't go into the details of his past romance offences, but confessed to his faults.
He said he wasn't angry at the women for the spectacle and warned other men from treating their partners poorly.
“You must be loyal to your girlfriend rather than cheating on her. If in the future she decides to air her grievance, you will be done,” Chen said.
In mainland China, the video quickly gained attention, with most of the comments being critical of Chen's former behaviour. Many commenters had little sympathy for him.
One said: “He shows no remorse, as he just worries that he can’t stand up like a man.”
“As the saying goes, ‘A leopard can’t change its spots’,” another added.
Others said his body count was less relevant, and that the focus should be on how he treated them.
One person said: “The problem is not about the number of women he dated, but it’s because he hurt them. Otherwise, they would not protest to teach him a lesson."
“The newlywed wife must thank the team of ex-girlfriends. If I were her, I would divorce him right away,” another said.
