Ex-girlfriend of jet ski Romeo who rode from Scotland to Isle of Man faces another jail term

The ex-girlfriend of a jet ski Romeo who rode to the Isle of Man from Scotland during lockdown faces another jail term.

Jessica Radcliffe has admitted being drunk and disorderly and is due to be sentenced next month.

The 31-year-old was heard by officers shouting 'I'll kill you' during an altercation with another woman on May 7.

A court was told how she was "smelling of alcohol and had glazed eyes" and when police tried to calm her down, she "tried to punch the other woman".

Radcliffe hit the headlines in December 2020 when, in a desperate effort to see her, her lover Dale McLaughlan made a treacherous 25-mile voyage during lockdown.

She said at the time she planned to marry McLaughlan, but the pair have reportedly since split up.

Radcliffe will be sentenced in June for the drunk and disorderly charge and for separate offences of assaulting a police officer and obstructing police.

Prosecuting advocate Rachael Braidwood told the Courts of Justice in Douglas on the Isle of Man that her most recent violent offence took place on May 7 this year.

Police were on patrol in Regent Street, in Douglas, at 12.40 am when they came across Radcliffe involved in an altercation with another woman.

Radcliffe was swearing and shouted "I'll kill you" as she attempted to grab the other woman, with police adding she smelled of alcohol and had glazed eyes.

Officers tried to calm her down, but she refused and then tried to punch the other woman, and they subsequently arrested her.

She was jailed for eight months last year for a vicious assault on another woman after she and a friend forced their way into their victim's home before attacking her.

Radcliffe's former beau McLaughlan went to jail for four weeks after he breached covid rules during his ambitious journey to reach her.

McLaughlan, who'd never ridden a jet ski before and couldn't swim, was seen carrying a backpack on his treacherous journey across the Irish sea on December 11, 2020.

The self-governing island had introduced strict laws at the time, where non-residents needed special permission to enter and anyone arriving had to self-isolate immediately.

McLaughlan had earlier been granted a certificate to work on the island between September 13 and October 2, 2020, issued in the economic interests of the island.

But after returning home, he set off on a four-and-a-half hour trip to visit Radcliffe.

In April 2021, just months after the daredevil crossing, pals of the pair confirmed that their romance had hit the rocks and they were no longer an item.
