Ex-England star baffled why EPL sides haven't 'moved heaven and earth' for Celtic's Ange Postecoglou

Paul Robinson can't understand why no English Premier League club has 'moved heaven and earth' to snap up Ange Postecoglou from Celtic.

The 57-year-old has enjoyed stunning success in Scotland since his arrival. He captured the Premiership title from Rangers in his first season as boss and lifted domestic silverware to complete a double. This term he holds a nine point advantage at the top in a bid to retain the league crown while he also experienced Champions League group stage football.

Postecoglou has also been hailed for his work in the transfer market bringing the likes of Matt O'Riley, Liel Abada, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic and Reo Hatate to the Scottish champions. His work on and off the field has not gone unnoticed with the likes of Brighton, Everton and Japan all been mentioned as admirers over his time in Glasgow.

The Celtic boss has always stated his happiness in Glasgow, but Robinson is a huge supporter, describing his work as 'nothing short of incredible' and is in disbelief that no club south of the border has made a serious move to land his services.

He told Football Insider: "I’m a big fan of his.

“I cannot understand why one of the Premier League clubs has not moved heaven and earth to get him. There has been a few jobs come up in the Premier League of late but he doesn’t appear to have been in the running.

“The job that he has done at Celtic has been nothing short of incredible. People forget how far behind Rangers they were when he came in. They lost the league that year by a fair margin.

“Look at the players that he has brought in. A lot of people have never heard of them but they have nearly all. been successes.

“I cannot for the life of me understand why a Premier League club has not made a serious move for him. The next step for successful managers of Celtic and Rangers is a Premier League club.”
